Van Gerwen wins in brilliant game against De Sousa

Wim Blokpoel - Tonight it was time for night 8 of the 2021 PDC Premier League Darts. After tonight it became clear that Glen Durrant and Rob Cross will be the first 2 playees eliminated. Dutch legend Michael van Gerwen had other sorts of trouble as he played Portugal’s talent José de Sousa. The pair started tomights game, to use MVG’s own words, phenomenal: both hit a 12 darter to make it 1-1. They were followed by a couple of 15 darters for the pair of them,  and a 12-darter for MVG to go 3-2 up. Van Gerwen then broke the throw as well with another 12 darter (what a stupendous high quality so far) as he went 4-2 up. It also became 5-2 as Mighty Mike hit an 11-darter with De Sousa waiting on 45! Both with a hold of throw after this, which means MVG secured his first point of the night on 6-3. Match darts were missed in the leg after it, as De Sousa held it in 18 darts. After MVG missed even. ore matchdarts in leg 11, De Sousa got the chance on 88 but missed Double 14 and Double 7, as MVG hit the winning double, and won 7-4! To say van Gerwen used a lot of emotion in this game is a big understatement. MVG is currently third on the PL table, and plays Jonny Clayton tomorrow. Hopefully he’ll keep playing like this, I really think MVG is unbeatable then.
