Van Gerwen survives 5 matchdarts against Humphries at Masters

Wim Blokpoel - Last night Michael van Gerwen played his first game in the 2022 PDC Ladbrokes Masters. He took on ‘Cool Hand’ Luke Humphries.

Humphries broke throw immediately in leg 1 with a 108-finish, and went 1-3 up later. NVg maganed to make it 2-3 at the first commercial break. MVG then broke back to make it 3-3, and even went 4-3 up. He also went 5-4, and 6-5 up, and then even a 7-5 lead for Mighty Mike. However, in his own leg Van Gerwen missed 6 darts at double for an 8-5 lead, as Humphries closed the gap once more at 7-6. At 7-7 Humphries broke throw, and MVG was 7-8 down! Humphries made it 7-9 and suddenly MVG was with his back against the wall! He did hold throw for 8-9, but then Hunphries got 5 matchdarts at double 12, 6 and 3. However, he missed all of them as MVG got away with it and made it 9 all. In the decider it was Van Gerwen with the darts, and it was Van Gerwen to hit a 16-darter and beat Humphries 10-9 after surviving 5 matchdarts!
