Van Gerwen demolishes Wright in Premier League

Wim Blokpoel - after the 6-6 draw with Dimitri van den Bergh the day before, MVG took on former World Champion Peter Wright in day 2 of the 2021 Premier League Darts. 

It was a slow start for MVG, as he couldn’t hold throw in 18 darts and got broken immediately by the man with the monkey pants. A 14-darter to break straight back though, and then both men hold their throw to make it 2-2. In leg 5 Wright got some darts to break again to 3-2, but he missed them and saw himself go 3-2 down, and eventually 4-2 as MVG did break Wright with a 14-darter. 4-2 became 5-2, and another break of throw for the man in green to get his first point of today: 6-2. The poor performance from both men was ended good though, as Michael van Gerwen hit a 13-darter to win the match in style: a very easy 7-2 win, which also puts the Dutchman on top of the Premier League by leg difference! Tomorrow another update, as MVG takes on another former World Champion in Rob Cross.
