26-06-2022

Wim Blokpoel - This weekend the 2022 PDC Viaplay Dutch Dsrts Masters came to an end. 8 players left last night, and it was time to get a winner!

6 of them were Dutch, and the first quarter-final was all Dutch as Dirk van Duijvenbode took on Martijn Kleermaker. It was a close game, not with a grrat standard but it the end it was Van Duijvenbode who edged it out 6-4. Next Dutchman was Maik Kuivenhoven who took on ‘The Machine’ James Wade. Kuivenhoven improved compared to his first round game, but it wasn’t enough as he lost 4-6 to Wade.

Jermaine Wattimena was up next, against Belgium’s Dimitri van den Bergh. Van den Bergh averaged almost 99 and was pretty impressive, as it was a 1-6 defeat for Westervoort’s Wattimena. Thankfully, the last quarter-final was indeed another all Dutch one! Vincent van der Voort took on UK Open Champion Danny Noppert, it was an enjoyable game and at 5-5 the last leg decider was won in 12 darts by Noppert!

Time for the semi-finals, with 2 Dutch players left. Van Duijvenbode took on Wade. At 5-6 down Van Duijvenbode kept his cool, made it 6-6 and it went into a last leg decider! Leg 13 was a break of throw, as DVD took out 72 for a 7-6 win! Noppert had to beat Van den Bergh for an all Dutch final, but unfortunately it was a 2-7 defeat for ‘The Freeze’ as Van den Bergh averaged over 103.

In the final, it was Van Duijvenbode against Van den Bergh. Soon Van Duijvenbode was 0-4 down, and then it was missed doubles from Van den Bergh which gave Van Duijvenbode a leg. However, he didn’t get more than 2 legs as it was a 2-8 defeat for Van Duijvenbode, ro Van den Bergh who once again played amazing.
