Semi-final for MVG in PL night 2

Wim Blokpoel - Last night the Premier League continued with night 2 in Liverpool.

Dutch number one Michael van Gerwen started with a defeat against Gary Anderson in Cardiff last week. In Liverpool he took on reigning World Champion Peter Wright. With a 12-darter MVG took a 3-0 lead with Wright having a very poor start. At 3-1 two 13-darters for  Vg saw him take a 5-1 lead, one leg away from the win. In leg 7 Van Gerwen hit a 12-darter as he demolished Wright 6-1!!

In the semi-finals of night 2 Van Gerwen played defending PL champion Jonny Clayton. Van Gerwen started amazing again. 12-darter, 11-darter, 129 finish and eventually a 4-1 lead for Mighty Mike. But then Clayton fought back winning legs in 13, 14 and 13 darts to completely level at 4-4! In leg 9 Clayton took out 110 to break at 4-5, and after holding throw it was a 4-6 defeat for Van Gerwen despite a 105 average! Very good signs from the Dutchman though, could he be back in form?
