Semi-final for Doets at Development Tour 5

Wim Blokpoel - Today the last event of the first PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend of 2022 was played. 

Kevin Doets first edged out Kieron Robinson 4-3, and then in round 2 beat Jaikob Selby-Rivas 4-1. In the last 64 he beat Cameron Anderson 4-2, and in round 4 Billy Bristow 4-1. In the last 16 Doets edged out Charlie Manby 4-3. Into the quarter-finals, Doets played Welsh Alec Small who he also beat in a last leg decider, 5-4. In the semi’s, Diets lost 4-5 himself to Nathan Girvan but still a great weekend for Doets who won event 4 yesterday.

Owen Roelofs started with a 4-0 win over Freddy Still. He then beat fellow Dutchmen Gijsbert van Malsen and Angelo Balsamo respectively with 4-1 and 4-3. In the last 32 Roelofs whitewashed Lewis Coates 4-0, and in round 5 he impressively beat Nathan Rafferty 4-1! In the quarter-finals Roelofs lost 2-5 to Girvan.

Maikel Verberk beat Jack Taylor 4-0 in round 1, and then beat Jack Male 4-1 in the last 128. In round 3 Verberk won 4-2 over fellow Dutchman Youri Brouwer, and in the last 32 he beat Ben Phillips 4-1. In the last 16 Verberk then lost 3-4 to Small.

Urk’s Geert Nentjes edged out Dom Taylor 4-3 in round 1, before beating Danny Goddard 4-1. In the last 64 ‘The Spear’ averaged 100,2 in a 4-0 win over Gibraltar’s Craig Galliano! Nentjes also won 4-0 against Thomas Turner, before he lost 2-4 to German Fabian Schmutzler in the last 16. Former JDC World Champ Jurjen van der Velde started with a 4-0 whitewash over Belgian Jorth Bollen. He then beat Kieran Peek 4-1, and Cavan Phillips 4-3 to make the last 32. Here Van der Velde edged out Jarred Cole 4-3 in a great game. In the last 16 Van der Velde lost 1-4 to eventual winner Josh Rock.

Wesley Veenstra beat German Till Stein in the last 128, and then beat another German in Tom Heldt 4-1. In round 4 Veenstra did lose to a German: 1-4 to Schmutzler.

Beofr his defeat, Youri Brouwer did beat Alfie Thompson 4-1, while Angelo Balsamo did beat Tom Garfield 4-2.  Damian Vetjens whitewashed both Matthew House and Nathan Boon 4-0, befofe losing to Turner, 1-4. Sam Coenders beat Scottish Scott Millar and Danish Robin Stegler both 4-2, before he lost 2-4 himself to Gary Steven in round 3. Moreno Blom edged out Irish Katie Sheldon 4-3, before a 4-1 win over another Irish player in Tadhg Carroll. In the last 64 Blom lost to an Irishman himself, in Conor Heneghan with 2-4. And finally, JDC World Champion Bradly Roes whitewashed Adam Pearce 4-0, before he lost in round 3 2-4 to James Beeton.
