Semi-Final for De Graaf at Woman Series

Wim Blokpoel - This weekend the first 4 PDC Woman Series of 2022 were played. 5 Dutch woman were involved in it!

EVENT 1

In event 1, Anneke Kuijten lost in round 1, 2-4 to Fallon Sherrock’s sister Felicia Blay. The other 4 woman all made the last 32! In that round, Priscilla Steenbergen losf 2-4 to Tracy North, while Astrid Trouwborst was whitewashed 0-4 by Lisa Ashton. Lerena Rietbergen did edge out Mandy Smith 4-3 though, as Aileen de Graaf beat Sherrie Yeomans 4-0. In the last 16 Rietbergen also lost to North, 3-4. De Graaf however won again! She edged out Amanda Harwood 4-3 to go into the quarter-finals. In that round she averaged above 80 but still lost 2-4 to Ashton.

EVENT 2

Event 2 went disappointing. De Graaf lost immediately, 2-4 to Steph Clarke while Lerena Rietbergen also lost in round 1, 2-4 to Mandy Smith. In the last 64 Kuijten lost 0-4 to Lorraine Winstanley, and Trouwborst lost 2-4 to Welsh Rhian Griffiths. Steenbergen did manage to win a game, 4-1 against Yeomans, but then lost in the last 32 3-4 to eventual finalist Robyn Byrne.

EVENT 3

In event 3, Kuijten was still without a win: this time she lost 1-4 to Joanne Senior. Steenbergen, Rietbergen and De Graaf did win in round 1 with Trouwborst having a bye. In round 2 Trouwborst beat Rhian O’Sullivan 4-1, while Steenbergen lost 2-4 to Natalie Gilbert. De Graaf whitewashed Kelly Gabriel 4-0, and Rietbergen also won: 4-2 over Jackie Wilkinson. In the last 32 Trouwborst beat Mozhgan Rahmani 4-0, De Graaf beat Rebecca Hoyland by the same scoreline, and Rietbergen beat Jane Monaghan 4-1, as 3 Dutch ladies went into the last 16!! Here Trouwborst lost 1-4 to Joanne Locke, but De Graaf beat Steph Clarke 4-0 with an 85 average and Rietbergen beat Rose Mort 4-0! Into the quarter-finals, they played each other and De Graaf won it 4-0. In the semi’s Aileen lost 1-5 to Fallon Sherrock but still an impressive run.

EVENT 4

In the last event of the weekend, Rietbergen lost in round 1 1-3 to Blay, as Kuijten lost 2-4 to Barbora Hospodarska. Steenbergen did edge out Senior 4-3, as De Graaf whitewashed Rebecca Brouse 4-0. In the last 64, Steenbergen won 4-2 against Mort, and De Graaf brat Steph Stutley 4-0. Trouwborst did lose 0-4 to Anna Johnson. In round 3 De Graaf and Steenbergen respectively beat Welsh ladies Leanne Topper (4-2) and Chris Savvery (4-0). In the last 16, Steenbergen lost 1-4 to Ashton, but De Graaf won again: 4-0 over Katie Sheldon! In the quarter-finals De Graaf also lost to Ashton 2-4.

After 12 events the top 8 ladies go to the Ladies World Matchplay. This is how the Dutch ladies are currently ranked:
