Semi-final for Damian Mol at Q-School
In round 1 Damian Mol had an easy win over German Swen Seifert 6-1, before Mol edged out fellow Dutchman Davy Proosten 6-5. In the last 32 Mol had an impressive 6-1 win over Frans Roetzsch, and in the last 16 Mol played Dutch American Jules van Dongen who he beat 6-4 with an average of 96! The winner of a Development Tour had a brilliant day, as he also won his quarter-final, 6-4 against Dutchman Martijn Dragt. In the semi-finals Mol lost 3-6 to Spanish José Justicia, who averaged over 98. Mol did get 4 points today, as he is in a great position to get a Tourcard for the very first time.
As mentioned, Martijn Dragt had a great run to the quarter-finals. In round 1 he beat Hungarin Patrik Kovács 6-3, before Dragt surprisingly beat WDF Number One Brian Raman 6-4! In the last 32 Dragt beat Patrick van den Bogaard 6-5, after being 3-5 down. In the last 16 he also went 2-4 down but still managed to beat Spanish Belgian Tony Martinez 6-5 with a brilliant average of 101,4! He then lost to Mol.
Jules van dongen started with beating former tourcard holders Steffen Siepmann and Toni Alcinas, and then he edged out Jeremy van der Winkel 6-5 before his defeat against Mol. Young Dutch talent Danny Jansen won a Dutch first round against Maikel Mossou 6-1. Jansen then beat Belgian Robbie Knobs 6-4, and Stefan Schroder 6-1. In the last 16 Jansen averaged 95,8 as he beat German Steven Noster 6-4. In the quarter-finals Jansen also lost to eventual winner Justicia, 2-6.
Jerry Hendriks and Gillian Koehoorn played each other in round 1. Hendriks got 4-1 up, but it was Koehoorn who won 6-5. Koehoorn then beat another Dutchman in Owen Roelofs in round 2. In the last 32 Koehoorn beat Portugese World Cup Star José Marques 6-4. Koehoorn then lost 4-6 to Roxy-James Rodriguez but still had a solid 2 points on the ranking.
Derk Telnekes lost his tourcard after 2 years so had to go back to Q-School. He started with a narrow 6-5 win over German Jens Ziegler. He then demolished Alex Flohr from Luxembourg 6-1. In the last 32 Telnekes played former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist. It was Deventer’s Telnekes who won it 6-5. Telnekes then also lost to eventual winner Justicia with 6-1.
Before his defeat, Kist managed to beat Roemer Mooijman 6-3, and Wesley Plaisier 6-4! Van den Bogaard also won 2 games, first fellow Dutch talent Jurjen van der Velde 6-4, and then German talent Fabian Schmutzler 6-4. Chris Landman started with an easy 6-0 win over former tourcard holder Harald Leitinger, followed by an impressive win over Belgian Ronny Huybrechts 6-2. Landman then lost to Noster 4-6 in the last 32. Kristiaan de Boer started with a 6-5 win over Tomas Houdek in a poor game, but improved in another 6-5 win against Luc Peters. In round 3 De Boer again played a last leg, but this time he lost 5-6 against Ricardo Pietreczko.
The Hague’s Vincent van der Meer started with a 6-2 victory over Stefaan Henderyck. VDM then beat fellow Dutchman Maikel Verberk 6-1, before losing to Kenny Neyens 4-6. Fomer Lakeside participant Dennie Olde Kalter started easy with a 6-0 win against Michael Ringoet, and then beat fellow Dutchman Roy van de Griendt 6-3. In round 3 he lost 5-6 to Radek Szaganski.
Jeremy van der Winkel first beat Thomas Klausmayer 6-2, and then Gijsbert van Malsen with 6-2 as well. In the last 32 JVDW went 4-1 up but still lost 5-6 to Jules van Dongen. Stefan Schroder and Ryan de Vreede played each other in round 1, and Schroder won it 6-4. Schroder then beat Tobias Scheifl 6-5 after being 2-5 down! Schroder then lost to Jansen. Finally, former top 16 player Benito van de Pas also got a point after beating Alexander Merkx 6-2, and Swedish Johan Engström 6-1. The man from Tilburg then lost 4-6 to Martinez.
