Second World Series event in Amsterdam
Wim Blokpoel - Yesterday the PDC announced there will not be one, but even two World Series events held in The Netherlands this year: both in the capital, Amsterdam.
In co-operation with Dutch broadcaster Viaplay, the PDC will held the 2022 Dutch Darts Masters in the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam. This World Series event is played on the 24th and 25th of june, and will see 8 top PDC starts play against 8 Dutchmen.
Obviously, World Number 3 Michael van Gerwen is one of the 8 seeds, along with World Champion Peter Wright and World Number 2 Gerwyn Price. World Series Finals winner Jonny Clayton is also involved, as is World Championship Finalist Michael Smith and World Number 5 James Wade. The last 2 seeds are former World Matchplay winner Dimitri van den Bergh, and Nordic Masters finalist Fallon Sherrock!
The other 8 players will be the top 8 Dutch players apart from MVG. 6 of them have a very big lead, and are basically secured. The biggest names there are UK Open Champion Danny Noppert and Aubergenius Dirk van Duijvenbode. Former World Cup Star Jermaine Wattimena and Dutch crowd favourite Vincent van der Voort will also be involved. Martijn Kleermaker will make his World Series debut, and former World Matchplay semi-finalist Jeffrey de Zwaan is also in the Dutch top 8. The last 2 spots would at this point go to Ron The Blmb Meulenkamp, and Maik Kuivenhoven but five time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld is not far behind them.
With this announcement we now have 6 big events in The Netherlands this year, what an amazing 2022 we will have!
