Ryan de Vreede through to final stage of 2022 Q-School
Wim Blokpoel - Today was the second day of PDC Q-School. A lot of Dutch success once more.
Ryan de Vreede basically got enough points already by making his final yesterday. Today he started by winning 3 games again, all against Germans. He then averaged 90,4 to beat Michal Smejda 5-2. This put him into his final game again!
Vincent van der Meer started with a 5-1 win over German Simeon Heinz. He then whitewashed Feith Kaya 5-0. In round 3 The Hague’s Van der Meer played fellow Dutchman Jamai van den Herik, who he beat 5-2. In another Dutch tie he also beat Max de Jong 5-3. In their final Van der Meer and De Vreede played each other, and it was De Vreede who won it 5-4. However, both men have done enough to get through to finals stage now.
Gillian Koehoorn starting today by beating 2 Dutchmen: Dustin Straver and Michael Stoeten. He then beat German Marcel Zwally 5-2. Then Koehoorn caused a surprise by beating former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist 5-2, before he lost his final to Danish Bent Lambertsen 4-5. Maikel Verberk edged out Danny Jansen and René Eidams 5-4 in his first 2 games. Verberk then had an impressive 5-3 win over Belgian Ronny Huybrechts, before he beat fellow Dutchman Jamie Lawrence 0-5. In his final Verberk lost 2-5 to German Lukas Wenig.
Alexander Merkx only dropped 1 leg in his first 2 games and then beat German Christian Schmidt 5-2. Another 5-2 win over Johan Engström saw Merkx make his final where he lost to Paulo Ferreira from Portugal, 4-5. Multiple Lakeside participant Willem Mandigers beat fellow Dutchman Marco Kleijn in round 1 5-3, before edging out Niels Heinsøe 5-4 in round 2. Mandigers then made his final by beating Germans Hurtz and Peters. In his final Mandigers got whitewashed 0-5 by Tony Martinez from Spain, but with a final, Mandigers, Merkx, Verberk and Koehoorn have all done enough already to make the final phase.
Apart from Lawrence, De Jong and Kist, more Dutchman got 3 important points today. Barry Zander surprised with wins over Nico Kurz and Tomas Houdek, before he lost 4-5 to German Mario Schulze. Dutch talent Patrick van den Bogaard beat the likes of Roman Benecky and Manuel Gutjahr, before he lost to Martinez in the last 16. A surprising name in Jan de Weerst also got 3 points, as did Jeremy van der Winkel after impressive wins over Benito van de Pas and Thomas Junghans. Finally, Jimmy Hendriks also got 3 points today, as he has now also done enough to get to the final stage! The same applies to Van der Winkel, De Jong, De Weerdt and Lawrence!
Kristiaan de Boer got 2 points by beating fellow Dutchmen Leo Hendriks and Gian van Veen, which also puts him into the final stage, and the same applies to Chris Landman who beat Danish Ivan Springborg Poulsen and Dutch talent Owen Roelofs. Davy Proosten also got 2 importsnt points, as did Arjan Konterman who lost in round 1 yesterday and still needs to win more games tomorrow to get through. 2 wins for Jamai van den Herik did put him into the final stage already though!
Only 1 point today was enough for Patrick Peters, and Dutch American Jules van Dongen to reach the final stage as well! The same applies to former Lakeside participant Wouter Vaes.
Other Dutch players who got an important point were: Roemer Mooijman, Peter van den Broek, Davy van der Zande, Benito van de Pas, Roland Hol, Roy van de Griendt, Gian van Veen, Dennis Verhaegen, Jerry Hendriks, Martijn Veraasdonk, Wesley van Trijp, Michael Stoeten, Maikel Mossou, Jeroen Mioch, Gijsbert van Malsen and Owen Roelofs.
