Recap - NK Darts

Wim Blokpoel - Today the last NDB ranking event of this season was played: the 2022 NK (Dutch Championship) in Barneveld. After today, the ranking champions of this season would be known as well.

Men A

In the last 64, Chris Landman beat Jeffrey Sparidaans 4-2 in a high quality game, while Owen Roelofs surprisingly lost in that round 3-4 to Luuk Boeijink. Moreno Blom beat Jitse van der Wal 4-2 in the last 64, while Vincent’s son Kevin van der Voort lost 2-4 to Dennis van der Ende. Landman and Jurjen van der Velde comfortably went through to the last 16, but Danny van Trijp also surprisingly lost to Boeijink. Jelle Klaasen edged out Jeremy van der Winkel 4-3 in the last 32, while Alexander Merkx beat Blom 4-0. Gillian Koehoorn lost 2-4 to Tonny Veenhof, but Dennie Olde Kalter did beat Gilbert van der Meijden 4-2. First ranked Ico Leeksma lost in the last 32, 1-4 to Willem Mandigers, but one round later his first ranked spot at the end of the season was confirmed, as second ranked Kristiaan de Boer was edged out by Olde Kalter 3-4.

In the last 16, Willem Mandigers beat Chris Landman 4-1, while two Dutch Open quarter-finalists took on each other as Johan van Velzen beat Jurjen van der Velde 4-1! Ahmad Ahmaddy edged out Luuk Boeijink 4-3, and Alexander Merkx also won in a last leg decider against Dutch Open Champion Jelle Klaasen! Jimmy van Schie beat Bjorn Fransen 4-2 while Danny Blom edged out Tonny Veenhof 4-3. Dennis van der Ende beat Colinn Haverkate 4-2 to become the last quarter-finalist.

In the last 8, Johan van Velzen surprisingly beat Mandigers 5-2, while Ahmed Ahmaddy also surprised with a 5-1 win over Alexander Merkx. Danny Blom edged out Jimmy van Schie 5-4, and Dennie Olde Kalter made the last 4 with a 5-3 win over Dennis van der Ende. In the semi’s, Van Velzen whitewashed Ahmaddy 5-0, while Olde Kalter beat Blom 5-2. A final between Johan van Velzen and Dennie Olde Kalter, was first to 2 sets and went into a deciding set! Van Velzen managed to win it 2-1 and picked up the 2022 men A NK Darts title! Congratulations to him, and to Ivo Leeksma who’s the 2021/2022 NDB ranking men A champion!

Women

All to play for in the women rankings, with Aileen de Graaf, Anca Zijlstra, Noa-Lynn van Leuven and Priscilla Steenbergen with the biggest chances to win the ranking.However, first ranked Van Leuven lost in the last 32, 1-3 to Suzan Konings with the other 3 ladies all comfortably reaching the quarter-finals, as Noa-Lynn’s chances to win the ranking disappeared. 

In the last 8, Nathalie van Marm whitewashed Konings 4-0, while Anca Zijlstra beat Floortje van Zanten 4-1. Priscilla Steenbergen edged out Sharon Straatsma 4-3, and Aileen de agraaf whitewashed Kerstin de Vries 4-0! In the semi’s, Zijlstra edged out Van Marm 4-3, and De Graaf beat Steenbergen 4-1. A final between the 2 highest ranked WDF Ladies in Zijlstra and De Graaf, and it was De Graaf who won the final 5-0! She picked up the 2022 NK Darts ladies title, and won the 2021/2022 NDB ranking ladies season!

Men B

In the men B event, Alfred van der Velden beat Rick Pennings 3-0 in the semi-finals, while Jeroen Gorter beat Grieko van der Sluis 3-1. In the final, Van der Velden beat Gorter 4-3 to crown himself the 2022 Men B NK Darts Champion! Also congrats to Gorter though, as that run to the final was enough to become the 2021/2022 Men B ranking champion!

Boys

In the boys event, both semi-finals had a surprising result! WDF Boys World Champion Bradly Roes, lost 0-3 to Angelo van Deventer, while Boys Dutch Open Champion Dylan van Lierop lost his semi-final 2-3 to Jeramey Postma. In the final, Van Deventer whitewashed Postma 4-0 as Van Deventer became the 2022 NK Darts Boys Champion.

Girls

In the girls event, Roos van der Velde (Dutch Open girls winner and the girls winner jn every rabking event so far this season) once more made the final, where she took on Chantal Tessin. Surprisingly, Van der Velde lost 1-3 to Tessin who became the NK Darts Girls event, but Van der Velde did win the 2021/2022 NDB girls ranking!

Aspirants

In the aspirants (young boys) event, the final was Koen Schreuders againat Wassim Dghoughi. Dutch Open aspirants finalist Schreuders, won this final 3-1 and became both the 2022 NK Darts aspirants champion, and the 2021/2022 NDB aspirants ranking winner!

Paradarts wheelchair

In the wheelchair event it was an unsurprising final between Arie van der Rassel (who had just won against former monthly guest Wilco Wassink in the semi’s) and Anton van Hemert. As expected, Van der Rassel won the title beating Van Hemert 3-1!

Paradarts standing

Finally, in the paradarts standing final Pascal van der Hoorn beat Patrick Breekveldt 3-2 in the final of the 2022 NK Darts paradarts standing event! Congratulations to all the winners, and onto the 2022/2023 season, hopefully with no restrictions and more NDB ranking events being held!
