Recap: NDB Open Stedendriehoek 2022
Wim Blokpoel - Last weekend the third NDB ranking event of 2022 was held: the Open Stedendriehoek in Zutphen.
Men A
In the men A event, most familiar names went deep. Kevin van der Voort, Vincent’s son made rhe last 32 but lost 2-4 to Jonny Nijs. In the last 16 we had a game between 2 big names: Dennie Olde Kalter who just came back from the PDC Czech Darts Open, against multiple World Championship participant Ryan de Vreede. It was De Vreede who won it 4-1. Patrick van den Bogaard beat Arjan Konterman 4-0 in the same round, while fofmer Lakeside World Champion Jelle Klaasen edged out Jurjen van der Velde 4-3. In the quarter-finals, De Vreede had a quite surprising 2-5 defeat to Ivo Leeksma. Van den Bogaard managed to beat Jonny Nijs in the same round, and Danny van Trijp edged out Klaasen 5-4. Last semi-finalist was Owen Roelofs, who edged out Gian van Veen 5-4 as well.
In the semi’s, Leeksma won again! He edged out Van den Bogaard 5-4 to go into the final. Former JDC World Championship Finalist Roelofs, had an impressive 5-2 win over Van Trijp as it was Leeksma against Roelofs in the final! In the final it was best of 3 sets, and we went into a deciding set which was won by Roelofs, as Owen Roelofs crowned himself the 2022 NDB Open Stedendriehoek Men A champion!
Men B
In the men B event. Jeroen Gorter whitewashed Gerrit Vermeer 3-0 in the semi-finals, while Wesley Veenstra had a 3-1 win over Richard Groot-Hemmink. In the final, it was Veenstra who picked up the title as he beat Gorter 4-1!
Women
In the women event, last event winner Noa-Lynn van Leuven had a rare defeat in the quarter-finals, 0-4 to Adriana van Wijgerden-Vermaat. Lakeside participaints Aileen de Graaf, Anca Zijlstra and Priscilla Steenbergen did all win their quarter-finals! In the semi’s, it was Van Wijgerden-Vermaat against Zijlstra, and Zijlstra won it 4-1. In the other half, De Graaf beat Steenbergen 4-1 as well, as Zijlstra and De Graaf played each other in the final. It was De Graaf who won it 5-3, picking up just another title in her very very impressive darts career.
Boys
In the boys event, Pim van Bijnen surprisingly lost his semi-final 2-3 to Sydnee de Vries, who had already beaten the WDF Boys World Champion Bradly Roes in the quarters! In the other half, Massimo Balsamo whitewashed Demy Sijbrands 3-0. In the final it was De Vries who edged out Sijbrands 4-3 to win the title!
Girls
In the girls event, Roos van der Velde has won the previous 2 titles this year, and was yet to be beaten as she made the final again! Just like in the Open Rotterdam, she played Chantal Tessin, who she beat 3-0 in the final in Zutphen now to make it 3 titles in a row!
Aspirants
In the event for the younger boys, it was Koen Schreuders who beat Wassim Dghoughi 3-1 in the final.
Paradarts Standing
Off to the paradarts, where Michelovic van Velzen once again made the final, as he beat Harm Mellies 3-1 in the last 4. Cliff Ruiter edged out Martijn Wouters 3-2 in the other half, as it was a final between Van Velzen and Ruiter. It went to a deciding leg, but it was Cliff Ruiter who picked up the title as he won 3-2!
Paradarts Wheelchair
Finally, in the wheelchair event, former Dutch Darts guest Wilco Wassink had some nice results! For the first time this season he made the semi-finals, and he even managed ro win there as he beat Ynske Snelleman 3-1! In the other half, favourite for the title Arie van der Rassel whitewashed both Chanine Vriezen and Anton van Hemert to breeze through to the final. In fact, Van der Rassel didn’t drop a leg all tournament, as he also won the final against Wassink 3-0!
