Quarter-Final for Martijn Kleermaker at PC13

Wim Blokpoel - Last sunday PDC Players Championship 13 was played.

Dutch Giant Martijn Kleermaker started with a 6-3 win against Stephen Burton and then had an all Dutch second round tie against Five time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld! It was Kleermaker who won it 6-3, with both men averaging in the high 90s! In his board final, Kleermaker played a second Dutchman in a row: Ron Meulenkamp! It was Kleermaker who won it again, 6-2 with an average of 97,5. In round 4 Kleermaker played Premier League Champion Jonny Clayton, and Kleermaker managed to surprise and beat Clayton 6-4! Into the quarter-finals where Kleermaker played Canadian Matt Campbell on the stream. Unfortunately, it ended there as Kleermaker lost 3-6 but still a great run for the big Dutchman.

Urk’s Geert Nentjes and Luc Peters played each other in round one, Nentjes won it 6-3. In round 2 Nentjes then beat saturday’s finalist Ryan Searle 6-2 with an average of 100,8 while Searle ridiculously lost with an average of 106,7!! In his board final, Nentjes lost 4-6 to Peter Hudson.

Before his defeat, Almere’s Ron Meulenkamp did have 2 great wins. In round 1 he had a surprising 6-3 win over Masters winner Joe Cullen! And in the last 64, Ron The Bomb Meulenkamp beat fellow Dutchman Kevin Doets 6-1! 

Before his defeat, Kevin Doets did edge out David Evans 6-5. And before his defeat, Raymond van Barneveld did beat Haupai Puha 6-2! Saturday’s winner Dirk van Duijvenbode started great again as he averaged 101,1 in a 6-1 victory over Jason Heaver! However, Van Duijvenbode’s winning streak came to an end as he lost 3-6 to Spanish Tony Martinez. 

Berry van Peer had a 6-3 win over Ryan Meikle, however ‘Bionic’ lost in the last 64 5-6 to Adam Gawlas, despite an average of 98,7! Danny Noppert edged out Lewis Williams 6-5 on the stream in round 1, but then lost in round 2 4-6 to eventual finalist Campbell despite an average of 99,4: Campbell averaged 103,5!! And the last Dutch win of the day, is for Westervoort’s Jermaine Wattimena who beat Matthew Edgar 6-2! In the last 64, Wattimena avaraged 102,7 but still lost 5-6 to Clayton in a brilliant game!

Dutch first round defeats came from: Jimmy Hendriks (4-6 against José Jusicia), Jeffrey de Zwaan (5-6 against Gordon Mathers), Maik Kuivenhoven (5-6 against Mervyn King), Niels Zonneveld (5-6 against Mickey Mansell), Jules van Dongen (5-6 against Eddie Lovely), Damian Mol (1-6 against Lee Evans), Vincent van der Voort (3-6 against Andrew Gilding) and Danny Jansen (3-6 against Ritchie Edhouse).
