Q & A January 2022: Kevin Doets

Wim Blokpoel - Today it is finally time for another Dutch Darts Q & A. This month with a brilliant guest: Dutch darting talent Kevin Doets, who has won his PDC Tourcard a few weeks ago at Q-School.

1. How did you get involved with darts? (Missy Mad)

 I got involved with darts when I was little, my parents played the local cup and I started playing when I was around 5 years old. Ofcourse not from the normal distance, mostly on a small chair and closer to the board.

2. At which point did you think you can do special things in darts? (Jojo)

 I think I started to think I could become a professional in around 2019. I reached the quarter finals of the BDO Dutch Open with some great games, and I got the confidence to win big tournaments after that. I kept playing better and my belief kept groing.

3. What was the best moment of your career so far? (Jojo)

The best moment of my career has to be beating Michael van Gerwen in the Players Championships, but winning my first Development Tour is also up there. The feeling of winning my first PDC tournament was a feeling I'll never forget.

4. Who is your idol/hero in darts? (Rien van Nobelen & Henry Cheal)

Right now I don't have an idol/hero. I believe that it doesn't help you with your own game if you would ever meet your idol in a serious game. But ofcourse when I was younger the biggest idol(s) would probably have been Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen.

5. What is the best part about having Mac Elkin as your manager? (Henry Cheal)

The best part about Mac Elkin is the bond that we have together, and with everyone in the management on that note. The chemistry between everyone is amazing and I'm really thankful to be part of his management.

6. Who are your best mates in the darts world? (Wim Blokpoel)

My best mates in the dartworld are Niels Zonneveld and Berry van Peer. I've played with them since I was 15/16 years old and we are all on the tour now, so that's kind of special as well. And I should mention Viktor Tingström and Lars Sandblom as well, they are both from Sweden (I live in Sweden), and those 2 are my best mates in Sweden for sure.

7. What are your goals for your first 2 years as a tourcard holder? (Jojo, Sportsfan & Henry Cheal)

My goals for the next 2 years are getting into that top 64 as quick as possible, qualifying for as many Euro Tours as possible, and qualifying for the World Championships.

8. What is your nickname going to be? (Damon Heta)

This question is from Damon Heta isn't it? Well I can tell you it's not what his wife and him call me hahaha, but I don't have a nickname yet.

9. What is one tournament you want to win, except the World Championship? (Sportsfan)

 There is not 1 tournament in particular that I want to win, I just want to win them all.

10. What is your ultimate goal in darts? (Henry Cheal)

My ultimate goal in darts is probably what everyone's ultimate goal is. Becoming world champion and becoming(and staying) number 1 in the world.
