Plaisier, Van Trijp, Dragt and Olde Kalter qualified for Eurotours
Wim Blokpoel - Saturday and sunday another load of Eurotour qualifiers for the Associate Members of the PDC were held. There was more Dutch success!
It started with the qualifier for Trier. Roy van de Griendt managed to make the quarter-finals but lost 1-5 to Stefan Bellmont. Davy Proosten was once again one win away from an Eurotour debut, but unfortunately lost 2-5 to Scott Williams. Recent Eurotour quarter-finalist Wesley Plaisier had more success. He first edged out fellow Dutchman Martijn Dragt 5-4, and then beat Canadian Shaun Narain 5-1. Plaisier then whitewashed Philip van Gasse 5-0 before edging out Ciaran Teehan 5-4. In his final game. Plaisier beat Bellmont 5-3 to make another Eurotour appearence!
In the qualifier for Jena, Patrick Peters had some impressive wins over Jelle Klaasen, Diogo Portela and Ciaran Teehan. However, in his final Peters lost 0-5 to Scott Williams. Former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist first beat Bellmont, and then Turkish Baran Oezdemir. Kist then beat 2 Belgians 5-2: Kenny Neyens and Ronny Huybrechts. Danny van Trijp beat Kevin Blomme 5-2 and fellow Dutchman Mathieu de Loos 5-0. Van Trijp then beat Derk Telnekes and French Thibault Tricole both 5-2. Van Trijp and Kist played each other in their final, and it was Van Trijp who won it 5-4 as he qualified for Jena!
In the qualifier for Graz, Owen Roelofs was 2 wins away but lost 2-5 to Belgisn Kevin Blomme. Plaisier first beat Daniel Klose 5-2, and then 2 Dutchmen in Dennie Olde Kalter (5-0) and Chrisitian Kist (5-2). Plaisier then beat Kenny Neyens 5-1 and Scott Marsh 5-2 to make his final, where he beat Belgian Philip van Gasse 5-1 to qualify for just another Eurotour!
In the qualifier for Prague, Martijn Dragt beat Remo Mandiau 5-1, and then averaged 100,2 in a 5-0 whitewash over Dominik Thiel! Dragt then beat Thomas Junghans 5-1, and fellow Dutchman Davy Proosten 5-2. In his final, it was a 5-4 win against Bellmont for Dragt who will make his Eurotour debut in Prague next month! In the other final for Prague, it was an all Dutch encounter between Danny van Trijp and Dennie Olde Kalter. It was Olde Kalter who won it 5-4, as he’ll make his Eurotour debut in Prague as well!
In the qualifier for Zwolle, Dutch Italian Sergio Krassen went all the way to his final, but unfortunately lost 3-5 to German René Eidams. Finally, in the qualifier for Budapest Wesley Plaisier made the quarter-finals but lost 3-5 to German Lukas Wenig, and Davy Proosten made another final but unfortunately lost again, 0-5 to Frans Roetzsch.
