No Dutch semi-finalists today in Development Tour
Wim Blokpoel - Today the 2021 EU Development Tour continued with event 9 and 10.
In event 9 only 2 Dutchmen made the quarter-finals. Former JDC World Championship finalist Owen Roelofs made it, however he got edged out 4-5 by Roman Benecky. Surprising Dutch quarter-finalist was Lars Fransen who had beat the likes of Mark Tabak and Niels Zonneveld! However he also lost in the last 8, 1-5 to Rusty-Jake Rodriguez.
In event 2 it were 2 Dutch quarter-finalists again. Lars Plaisier made it, but lost 4-5 to Alex Flohr from Luxembourg. Urk’s Geert Nentjes also made the last 8, but also lost 4-5, to German talent and eventual champion Fabian Schmutzler.
Despite a disappointing day for Dutch Darts, there are still 2 Dutchmen tied on the spor for the world championship: both Nentjes and Zonneveld are on 3,8 k. A lot of men are close behind them including Jurjen van der Velde, Kevin Doets and Mike van Duivenbode, but also Schmutzler, Sebastian Bialecki and Niko Springer are not far away. A lot to play for tomorrow!
