Netherlands beat Singapore in Round 2 World Cup of Darts

12-09-2021

Wim Blokpoel - Laat night Dutch duo Michael van Gerwen and Dirk van Duijvenbode took on Paul and Harith Lim from Singapore in the last 16 of the 2021 Cazoo World Cup of Darts. Dutch number one MVG started against 67-year-old darting legend Paul Lim. In this match, MVG got comfortably on 2-0 despite only averaging 90. It wasn’t Lim’s day as he only had one dart on a double, and Van Gerwen won the match 4-0 despite averaging below 89.

One win needed now as ‘Aubergenius’ Dirk van Duijvenbode played Harith Lim. Lim missed 3 darts to win leg 1 as Dirk made it 1-0. At 1-1 Lim suddenly took out 111 and Van Duijvenbode surprisingly was 1-2 down. Van Duijvenbode then came back with a 106 finish himself to make it 2-2. Lim then made it 3-2, and DVD 3-3. In the deciding leg it was an easy win for DVD who hit a 16-darter and won the second game with 4-3!

So The Netherlands are through to the quarter-finals where they’ll play Peter Wright and John Henderson from Scotland this afternoon. Come on Netherlands!!!!

Michael van Gerwen 4-0 Paul Lim (88,41 - 75,55)

Dirk van Duijvenbode 4-3 Harith Lim (84,67 - 79,14)
