Nentjes reaches final of Development Tour 8
Wim Blokpoel - This weekend the EU Development Tour will be finished. After 6 events there are 6 more events played. Yesterday it started wirh event 7 and 8.
In event 7, 4 Dutchmen made the quarter-finals. Urk’s Geert Nentjes edged out Mike van Duivenbode in an all Dutch tie. Keanu van Velzen lost 2-5 to German talent Fabian Schmutzler, while Joey de Jong edged out Roman Benecky 5-4. In the semi-finals De Jong also lost to Schmutzler, 2-5. Nentjes played amazing aa he averaged 100,9 but still lost his semi-final 4-5 to Austrian Rusty-Jake Rodriguez who averaged 102,4 himself!
In event 8 3 Dutchmen made the last 8. Maikel Verberk lost 4-5 to Rodriguez, while former JDC World Championship Finalist Owen Roelofs lost 1-5 to Benecky. Geert Nentjes made it back to back semi-finals though, as he edged out Adam Gawlas 5-4. In his semi, Nentjes got revenge against Rodriguez who he beat 5-4 this time, to go into the final! In the final Nentjes got 4-3 up, but still lost 4-5 to Polish Sebastian Bialecki.
Rodriguez has already done enough to top the league, but because he already qualified for the World Championship, the second place will get that spot! At the moment it goes between Niels Zonneveld and Geert Nentjes, but players like Kevin Doets, Jurjen van der Velde and Mike van Duivenbode aren’t too far away either.
