MVG wins 3/3 games in Premier League 2021
Last week the 2021 Premier League Darts continued. Dutch star Michael van Gerwen was third of the league after the first 9 nights. This means it were 3 important days for him.
Wednesday the 5th of may it was night 10. Mighty Mike took on Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh in the final game of the night. MVG started brilliant. Winning legs in 12, 13 and 15 darts to go 3-0 up. This was followed by 13, 11 and 14 darters with Van den Bergh waiting on a finish of 50 or lower every time when MVG finished. It was 6-0 and a ridiculous performance from MVG. Van den Bergh prevented the whitewash (6-1), and even won more legs, in 12 and 14 darts to make it 6-3. MVG ended the comeback of the dreammaker with an 11-darter to get his first point, and followed it with another 13-darter to win 8-3! The worst leg of the game was leg 3: a 15-darter! Ridiculous standards and MVG earned 2 well deserved and much needed points.

On night 11 the next opponent of MVG was Jonny Clayton. Their first meeting in this year’s PL was a big win for Clayton so MVG was looking to get revenge. A tough start though, as MVG got 1-2 down. After 2-2 in leg 5, both men missed loads of darts at double and eventually MVG won the leg with dart 20 to take the lead 3-2. A 14-darter made it 4-2, but 2 poor legs from MVG followed and the ferret came back at 4-4. MVG seemed to be done with this jojo match, and decided to win 3 legs on the spin! 7-4 and the first point was for the man in green. Vlijmen’s darting legend also got over thr line, at 7-5 he hit a 12-darter for his second win in a row: 8-5 for Mighty Mike!

Firday, night 12 of the Premier League. After revenge against Clayton, Michael van Gerwen was now searching for revenge against James Wade, who beat him massively in their first game as well. Both players started with a 12-darter, and that was pretty much the standard in the entire game. Legs won in 15, 16 and 17 darts made it 3-2 MVG and then he woke up: 12-darter, 16-darter, 12-darter, 12-darter. BOOOMMMM!!! MVG with 4 phenomenal legs to go 7-2 up and get the first point of the game, which means he won’t lose this week. Wade bounced back with a 12-darter of his own, 7-3. But another 12-darter, ridiculously the 7th 12-darter in 11 legs, for MVG as it was another 8-3 win! MVG has won 3 games in a row, and after a bad super seeies he now seems very much in form! MVG seems to be missing the crowd as well, but great news: the crowd will finally be back at the darts, for the first time in the UK there’s a crowd for a darts event, since march 2020! Monday the 24th of may MVG will be back in the PL. With a crowd.
