MVG loses top spot in Premier League after losing to Aspinall

But more important, we saw the crowd come back for the first time in 2021 at a PDC darts event. Dutch number one Michael van Gerwen always loves to play for a crowd, so much was expected from his game today against Nathan Aspinall. MVG started poor though, he didn’t manage to hold throw in 18 darts and soon he was 0-3 down. Both players with a 15-darter and it was 1-4. Aspinall then broke throw in 14 darts but MVG broke back and hold throw to close the gap to 3-5. Unfortunately, this was the point were one player woke up and it was Aspinall: a 13 and 14-darter to get the first point (3-7) and another 13-darter for Nathan Aspinall to beat MVG 8-3. A 96,7 average for MVG but he simply didn’t manage to do the right things at the right moments. Tomorrow it’s Gary Anderson for Van Gerwen and being second on the table but 3, 3 and 5 are close behind him, MVG really needs a win!
