MVG back on top Premier League after beating Anderson

Wim Blokpoel - Today it was night 14 of the 2021 Premier League Darts. Dutch darting legend Mighty Michael van Gerwen took on two time World Champion Gary Anderson in a very tasty encounter.

A very good start from both with 14 and 15-darters saw Anderson take a 3-2 lead, after hitting a 138-finish on double 9. After 3-3, MVG hit 6 perfect darts and eventually produced an 11-darter to grab the lead 4-3. Another 14- and 15-darter were followed and MVG made it 6-3 being 1 leg away from a first point. Anderson won leg 10 (6-4), but then a 13-darter from the man with the apple green shirt to get his first point of today: 7-4. A poor next leg, but MVG still closed it out on double 1 to win 8-4 and with the draw between Aspinall and Wade that means that Van Gerwen is now top of the table and the good news, which former guest of Dutch Darts FDI pointed out, that Michael van Gerwen has now qualified himself for the play offs of the Premier League, which he didn’t succeed in last year for the very first time. Let’s hope MVG can try to stay top spot tomorrow when he takes on Portugese José de Sousa!
