Luc Peters, Kevin Doets and Jules van Dongen win Tourcards
Wim Blokpoel - Today on day 3 of 2022 PDC Q-School it was a massive day for Dutch Darts! Multiple Dutchmen managed to win their tourcards.
Luc Peters was still on 0 points after two days. He now finally managed to get his first point: he beat fellow Dutchmen Kristiaan de Boer (6-3) and Jimmy Hendriks (6-5). In the last 32 he played a third Dutchman in Patrick van den Bogaard. Peters was 2-5 down, but still managed to get another 6-5 win! Into the last 16 it was Dutchman number 4: Big Benito van de Pas. It also was a third last leg decider in a row, and again it was Peters who won it! In the quarter-finals it was Dutchman number 5: Patrick Peters! Luc won 6-3 against Patrick with an average of almost 91, to go into the semi-finals where he played… Dutchman number six! 19-year-old Danny Jansen it was, both men averaged 94 but it was Peters who won 6-4. Into the final for a toucard, Luc Peters played Belgian Mario Vandenbogaerde who was already secured a card because of his great results. Peters managed to win 6-4, and after narrowly missing out last year, the 29-year-old from Nieuw Bergen has a PDC Tourcard for the first time in his career!
Before his defeat, Holten’s Danny Jansen did have some great wins. In round 2 he won 6-2 against Jamai van den Herik, and he followed it with a 6-3 win over Polish Radek Szaganski. In the last 32 another comfortable 6-3 win against Jeroen Mioch, and in the last 16 Jansen averaged 94,8 to beat Niels Heinsøe 6-1! In the quarters Jansen edged out Rowby-John Rodriguez 6-5, before losing to Peters, But Jansen is now on 7 points and that’s almost 100% enough to win a tourcard for his first ever time as well!
Kevin Doets had a great run yesterday, and he started well again. In round 1 a 6-1 win against Carlo van Peer, and then a 6-3 win over Johan Engström. In round 3 Doets beat Portugese José Marques 6-5, and then fellow Dutchman Davy Proosten 6-2. On 7 points Doets could secure his tourcard for the first ever time, if he would win his Quarter-Final against Jesus Noguera. And Doets did exactly that: he won 6-4 to become the second Dutchman who won a tourcard today! In the semi’s he lost 3-6 to Vandenbogaerde, but that won’t matter anymore.
Deventer’s Derk Telnekes had a bye into round 2, where he beat Damian Mol 6-5, which he followed with a 6-2 win against Dennie Olde Kalter! In the last 16 Telnekes edged out Austrian Michael Rasztovits 6-5. In the last 8 he lost though, 3-6 to Vandenbogaerde, but he’s on 5 points and probably needs one more point tomorrow to get his tourcard straight back! Before his defeat Patrick Peters did manage to beat Swen Seifert 6-2 and Jan de Weerst 6-5, to get into the last 32. Here he beat Vincent van der Meer, to play Patrick Maat in the last 16. Maat was 5-1 up, but Peters fought back and won it 6-5!
Maat before that, had easy wins against Erik Tautfest 6-1, Patrik Kovacs 6-2 and Patrick Bulen 6-3. This puts Maat on 4 points and not far away from a Tourcard! Before his defeat to Doets, Proosten had two 6-3 wins over Danish Vladimir Andersen and Stefan Schroder. Proosten then beat Belgian Kenny Neyens in the last 32 6-4. Gian van Veen edged out German Daniel Vogt in the last 128 6-5. He then had 2 impressive wins by beating Ronny Huybrechts 6-3 and Wouter Vaes 6-2! In the last 16 Van Veen was another victim of Vandenbogaerde. Before his lose, Van de Pas edged out Max de Jong 6-5, beat Latvian Nauris Gleglu 6-4 and Austrian Thomas Klausmayer 6-2.
Jules van Dongen needed 1 more point (so 2 wins) to totally guarantee himself from a Tourcard for the very first time. In round 1 he easily beat James Beeton 6-1. In round 2 he played Jacques Labre from France to secure his tourcard, and JVD produced a massive display: an average 104,5 and another 6-1 win! In round 3 Van Dongen lost 5-6 to Rowby-John, but he’s already having a tourcard after his debut on Q-School!
Wesley Plaisier also played great, as he averaged 101,2 to beat German Danny Tessmann 6-2 in round 1. He then averaged 99,4 in a 6-2 win against Spanish Toni Alcinas, but unfortunately Plaisier then lost 2-6 to Thibault Tricole. Before their defeats to other Dutchmen, these Dutchmen managed to beat the following players: Wouter Vaes (Andreas Winterling 6-4, Mario Schulze 6-2), Vincent van der Meer (Cristo Reyes 6-5, Willem Mandigers 6-3), Dennie Olde Kalter (Jens Ziegler 6-3, Harald Leitinger 6-2), Jeroen Mioch (Christian Kist and Karel Sedlácek both 6-2) and Patrick van den Bogaard (Robbie Knops 6-3 and Steffen Siepmann 6-5). Van den Bogaard is now on 5 points, so 1 more point on day 4 could give him his card as well!
