Last 16 for Plaisier at Challenge Tour 10

04-04-2022

Wim Blokpoel - Yesterday PDC Winmau Challenge Tour event 10 was played in Germany. It was the last of 5 Challenge Tours played last weekend.

An all Dutch tie in round one was won 5-2 by Wesley Plaisier against Dustin Straver. In round 2 Plaisier edged out Challenge Tour 7 winner Stefan Bellmont 5-4, and in the last 64 Plaisier whitewashed German Tony Huebner 5-0. In the last 32 Plaisier edged out Darren Johnson 5-4, to go into the last 16. Here he lost 4-5 himself, to Stephen Burton but still a great run for Plaisier.

Arjan Konterman started the event with a 5-3 win over Petros Christodoulou from Cyprus. Konterman then edged out Welshman Justin Smith 5-4 to make the last 64. Here he beat German Marcel Erba 5-3, but in round 4 Konterman lost 0-5 to Belgian Kevin Blomme. Eurotour participant Gian van Veen started with a 5-0 whitewash over Danish Niels-Joergen Hansen, and then edged out Phillip van Gasse 5-4. In round 3 Van Veen beat Andrew Hyland 5-2, but in the last 32 Van Veen was edged out 4-5 by Scott Marsh.

Jeroen Mioch started with a 5-1 win over fellow Dutchman Roemer Mooijman. In the last 64 Mioch then beat Simon Bak 5-2, but he lost one round later 2-5 to Lee Evans. Patrick van den Bogaard had a very disappointing weekend, but in the last event he started with a win: 5-4 over German Christian Seegatz. In round 2 Van den Bogaard beat Albanian Arsen Ballaj 5-0, and in the last 64 he even had a 5-4 win over Colin Osborne! In the last 32 Van den Bogaard lost 4-5 to Graham Usher but still a great end of the weekend for him.

Dutchmen who made the last 64 were Jimmy van Schie, Martijn Dragt, Christian Kist, Adrianus Maria van Baast, Dutch Italian Sergio Krassen, Kristiaan de Boer and Dennie Olde Kalter.

After 10 events we have quite some Dutchmen in the last 64 of the Challenge Tour:

Danny van Trijp (3)

Jeremy van der Winkel (18)

Jelle Klaasen (30)

Christian Kist (38)

Ryan de Vreede (42)

Maikel Verberk (53)

Wesley Plaisier (57)

Carlo van Peer (59)

Arjan Konterman (60)

Roy van de Griendt (62)

So, with his third Challenge Tour spot it is likely that we will see Danny van Trijp in a lot of Pro Tour events in the following months!
