Klaasen, Telnekes and Harms lose tourcards

02-12-2021

Wim Blokpoel - Last monday the PDC World Championship qualifier was held, last chance for a lot of players to make the World Championship, and save their tourcards.

Wesley Harms didn’t enter (for obvious reasons which were first pointed out on this particular website), so he lost his tourcard now. Jelle Klaasen had to win this qualifier to save his tourcard, but lost in round 1 5-6 to Adam Gawlas after missing matchdarts… Sums up a very painful year for the former BDO World Champion, but hopefully he’ll be back on tour very soon! Finally Deventer’s Derk Telnekes also lost his card, despite having made the Worlds last year (where he lost to Nick Kenny). In this year’s qualifier he lost in round 1 to Alan Tabern.

Urk’s Geert Nentjes also lost his first game, to Martin Atkins, but he still has a year to get himself in the top 64. Niels Zonneveld did start with a win, 6-5 against 2 time BDO World Champion Scott Waites. In round 2 he won again, 6-3 against Wayne Jones. Jeffrey de Zwaan also won in round 2, the Black Cobra averaged 102,5 in a 6-2 win over Atkins. In the semi-final round however, De Zwaan lost 3-6 to Belgian Mike de Decker, as he won’t be at the World Championship after being a seed for the last 3 years. Niels Zonneveld also didn’t make the world’s, he lost 1-6 to Australian Gordon Mathers.
