Kevin Doets wins Challenge Tour 2 in all Dutch final

Wim Blokpoel - Yesterday the first 2 PDC Challenge Tour events of this year were played. This year the EU players and UK players are playing in different events. 

In event 1 there were 3 Dutch quarter-finalists. Castricum’s Jimmy Hendriks lost his quarter-final 1-5 to Belgian Kenny Neyens. Chris Landman however, beat Ricardo Pietreczko 5-1 to go into the semi’s. And it turned out to be an all Dutch semi, as Gino Vos won 5-2 against Swedish Johan Engstrom. In this semi it was Gino Vos who beat Landman 5-1 to go into the final. Here he played Canadian Matt Campbell, who was in his first ever challenge tour event. Campbell went on to immediateky win his first one, as unfortunately he beat Gino Vos 5-1. 

In event 2 there were even 4 Dutch quarter-finalists! An all Dutch quarter final between Wesley Plaisier and Christian Kist was won 5-3 by Kist. Luc Peters lost 2-5 to German Lukas Wenig, but the performance of this round came from Dutch talent Kevin Doets who averaged 102,2 to beat Spanish Toni Alcinas 5-2! Now both semi’s were Netherlands-Germany battles. Former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist showed why he is a world champion, as he finally found some form and even hit a 9-darter in his semi-final against Steven Noster who he eventually went on to beat 5-2 with an average over 99. Kevin Doets played Lukas Wenig, which went all the way to 4-4. This was after Doets got 2-4 down, and he then managed to win 3 legs on the spin as a 17-darter saw him win 4-3. So now we had an all Dutch final between former World Champion Christian Kist and former Challenge Tour winner Kevin Doets. Doets started the final with a 13- and 12-darter, in the end averaged over 99 and beat Kist 5-2! 

So congratulations to Kevin Doets who won his second Challenge Tour title, having also won a Development Tour title, so he’s now won 3 PDC titles. Let’s hope for another Dutch winner today!
