Jansen, Mol and Hendriks win Tourcards

15-01-2022

Wim Blokpoel - Today the final day of 2022 PDC Q-School was played. A lot of tourcards were given.

Jules van Dongen, Kevin Doets and Luc Peters already won their cards yesterday. 19-year-old talent Danny Jansen from Holten was also on 7 points already. Today Jansen lost 5-6 to Belgian Michael Ringoet in round 1 already, but the 7 points turned out to be more than enough, to get his tourcard for the very first time!

Damian Mol had a great first day where he got 4 points, but didn’t get any more on day 2 or 3. Today he started well as he averaged 98,5 and only narrowly edged out Jacques Labre from France, who averaged 103,2! In the last 64 he then beat Austrian Roxy-James Rodriguez 6-3, to get his 5th point! After beating one brother of a tourcard holder, Mol managed to do if twice as he also beat Kim’s brother Ronny Huybrechts with 6-3! In the last 16 Mol lost 4-6 to Jimmy Hendriks, but 6 points were enough for him to end 7th on the order of merit and get his card.

Former tourcard holder Jimmy Hendriks was on 3 points before today, so he needed a run. He started well with a 6-1 win over Andy Bless, and then another 6-1 win against Wesley Plaisier, which ended his tourcard hopes. In the last 32 Hendriks then got his fifth point after beating Rowby-John Rodriguez 6-4. Hendriks then beat Mol 6-4 to get 5 points, and then he lost 2-6 to Tony Martinez. But 6 points also were enough for Jimmy ‘The Captain’ Hendriks to get his tourcard back, after 3 years without one!

Unfortunately, not every Dutchman had such a great day. Patrick van den Bogaard missed out on a tourcard on 3 legs, after his 4-6 defeat to Niels Heinsøe in the last 64. Patrick Maat also lost put on leg difference, after a 1-6 lose against Maikel Verberk in round 2. Derk Telnekes lost his tourcard after two years today, he lost 3-6 to German Kai Gotthardt in round 1 ans also missed out on leg difference. Jelle Klaasen was yet to win a point, and he didn’t manage to get one today either. He lost in round 2, 4-6 to Ronny Huybrechts. After exactly 15 years, Klaasen is off the tour now.
