Finals for Veenstra and Van der Wal at Challenge Tour

Wim Blokpoel - Saturday and Sunday the 3rd until 6th EU Challenge Tour of 2021 have been played. In challenge tour 3 three Dutchmen made the quarter-finals. Richard Veenstra beat fellow Dutchman Luc Peters 5-4, while Danny van Trijp lost 1-6 to Rowby-John Rodriguez. The same Rodriguez also beat Veenstra in the semi’s, 5-2. 

In Challenge Tour 4 there was a little more Dutch success. Davy Proosten whitewashed German Niko Springer 5-0, while ‘Flyers’ Richard Veenstra won 5-3 against Belgian Kenny Neyens. In the semi’s Proosten lost 4-5 to German Steven Noster, but Veenstra did manage to win, also 5-4 against ‘The Cube’ René Eidams. In the final Veenstra also lost to Steven Noster, 3-5.

Time for Challenge Tour 5. Again here were 3 Dutch quarter-finalists. Maikel Verberk unfortunately, got whitewashed 0-5 by Rowby-John Rodriguez. Chris Landman lost 1-5 to Canadian Matt Campbell, but former Challenge Tour event winner Jitse van der Wal managed to win his game against BDO World Championship semi-finalist Mario Vandenbogaerde 5-4. In the last 4 Van der Wal won again, 5-4 against German Lukas Wenig. In the final Van der Wal got edged out 4-5 by Campbell who won his second Challenge Tour of the week. 

Challenge Tour 6 didn’t have much Dutch succes, only 2 quarterfinalists. Damian Mol lost 1-5 to Vandenbogaerde, while Luc Peters lost 2-5 to Wenig.
