Final for MVG in PL night Aberdeen

22-04-2022

Wim Blokpoel - Last night the 2022 PDC Cazoo Premier League continued with night 11.

Dutch number 1 Michael van Gerwen started against Welsh number 1 Gerwyn Price. Van Gerwen saw himself go 2-3 down, but then finished legs in 11 and 13 darts for a 4-3 lead. Later he was 5-3 up, and Price got darts to win leg 9 but missed, as Mighty Mike won the match 6-3, to go to the semi-final.

In that semi-final MVG played James Wade. It was a very steady game, at 1-1 Van Gerwen broke throw for a 2-1 lead, and then held for a 3-1 lead. 3-1 became 4-2, 5-3 and eventually it was a second 6-3 win in a row for the Dutchman as he got into the final! In that final it was PL number 1 Van Gerwen against PL number 2 Jonny Clayton, with the winner being the number 1 after week 11. It turned out to be a brilliant game, at 2-2 Van Gerwen won legs in 13 and 12 darts as he went 4-2 up. At 5-4, Van Gerwen missed one matchdart on the bullseye as Clayron made it 5-5. In the deciding leg, it was Clayton who held throw in 15 darts to win the night in Aberdeen as he took the number 1 spot in the PL away from Van Gerwen. However, MVG is still second in the table, being pretty save to make the play-offs.
