Dutch dominance in day 3 of Q-School
Wim Blokpoel - Today was the final day of the first stage of 2022 PDc Q-School. An enormous load of Dutchmen reached the final phase today!
Despite playing great, Danny Jansen was still miles away of the final phase at the start of today. The young talent from Holten started great again As he beat Roland Meier 5-0. He then edged out German Pierre Finck 5-4, and beat another German in Kevin Schal 5-2. In fhe last 16 Jansen secured his place into the final phase by beating fellow Dutchman Davy Proosten 5-1 with an average of 102,3! Jansen then also beat Dutchman Jeroen Mioch in his final, 5-0.
Arjan Konterman also needed some points today, and he did get them, quite ridiculous by solely beating Dutchmen! In round 1 it was a 5-0 win over Erik Meulenmeesters, and then a 5-3 victory over former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist. Wins over Jimmy van Schie and Jimmy Hendriks saw Konterman make his final, where he whitewashed Dennie Olde Kalter 5-0.
Chris Landman already was through after 2 great days, but he made it 3 great days in a row! He started by beating Nick Paenen 5-4, and Polish Sebastian Steyer 5-3. Landman then beat 3 Dutchmen in a row: Jan de Weerdt 5-0, Maikel Verberk 5-2 and in his final, Owen Roelofs 5-1.
A quite unkown name in Martijn Dragt also had a brilliant day. He beat Janos Borzsei and Thomas Junghans both 5-1, before he edged out Danish Vladimir Andersen 5-4 with both men averaging 94. Two 5-3 wins over Germans Keine and Scheifl saw Dragt even become one of the day winners!
Patrick van den Bogaard started with a 5-0 win over Fabio Biscitelly, before an impressive 5-3 win over 2022 Worlds participant Roman Benecky. He then beat German Marvin Koch 5-2, and oldest Rodriguez brother Roxy-James 5-3 before a 5-1 win over Erik Tautfest in Van den Bogaard’s final!
The Hague’s Vincent van der Meer also did enough after just 2 days but made his week even better. He whitewashed Greece’s Veniamin Symeonidis 5-0 in round 1 and then brat German Daniel Vogt 5-1. In the last 32 Van der Meer edged out Latvian Mindaugas Barauskas 5-4, and then he beat 2 Dutchmen in Alexander Merkx and Perry Noordermeer.
