27-09-2021

Wim Blokpoel - The draws of 2 big tv majors in the PDC have been announced. This afternoon the draw for the World Grand Prix was done by Barry Hearn.

Five Dutchmen are in the field of this years World Grand Prix. Debutant is Martijn Kleermaker from Harderwijk, he has drawn former finalist Mervyn King in round 1! If Kleermaker wins it’s either Price or Michael Smith in round 2. Last years finalist ‘Aubergenius’ Dirk van Duijvenbode will try to find some form back in the tournament where he had his breakthrough a year ago. DVD has drawn debutant Luke Humphries, this years UK Open finalist, in the last 32. It’s either Van den Bergh or Searle for Dirk if he wins it. Unfortunately, Dutch number one Michael van Gerwen has drawn fellow Dutchman Danny Noppert, a repeat of their meeting in Gibraltar last weekend which MVG won 6-5. Finally, former UK Open finalist Vincent van der Voort has drawn German number one Gabriel Clemens in the first round. If he wins, VVDV plays either Van Gerwen or Noppert in round 2!

At the European Championship we only have two Dutchmen. Here Danny Noppert has drawn Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski. If ‘The Freeze’ would win he plays Smith or Searle in the second round. Van Gerwen has drawn European Championship debutant Boris Krcmar from Croatia. The winner of that game plays either Wade or Smith-Neale in round 2.

The Boylesports World Grand Prix is played from next sunday 3rd october until saturday 9th october in Leicester, the Cazoo European Darts Championship is held from thursday 14th october until sunday 17th october in Salzburg.
