Draw out for first 3 rounds UK Open!
Wim Blokpoel - The draw for the first 3 rounds of the 2021 UK Open Darts has been announced today by the PDC. Let’s see who the Dutchmen have drawn. In the first round, the last 160 we already have 11 Dutch players! Tourcard holder Berry van Peer starts with a tough match already as he faces German talent Martin Schindler. Young Dutchman Jitse van der Wal starts his tournament against another German, the very talented Florian Hempel. Tourcard holder Niels Zonneveld faces Belgian Geert de Vos, while Maikel Verberk is playing Martin Lukeman. Q-School surprise Lorenzo Pronk makes his UK Open debut, and in round 1 he plays tourcard holder Jason Heaver. Another debutant here is young talent Luc Peters who faces fellow young talent Lewis Williams from Wales. Gino Vos is back at the PDC and plays Adam Gawlas from the Czech Republic. Who is back as well, is The Hague’s Ryan de Vreede. He plays Peter Hudson in round 1. Debutant Damian Mol has a tough draw as he faces Ritchie Edhouse. Young tslent Kevin Doets plays 2020 world youth finalist Joe Davis in round 1. Finally tourcard holder and talent Geert Nentjes from Urk plays former BDO World Champion Richie Burnett in a very interesting tie.
The second round, last 128 sees 4 Dutch players join the field. If Maikel Verberk wins in round 1 he will play either Scott Taylor or Greece’s John Michael. If Luc Peters wins he gets another tough draw in former Lakeside World Champion Scott Mitchell. Geert Nentjes could face Irish talent Keane Barry in another mouthwatering clash. If Damian Mol causes one upset, he has to cause another as he would play Andy ‘The Hammer’ Hamilton in round 2. Jitse van der Wal could play Jim McEwan or Sebastián Bialecki, while Kevin Doets might play Scottish William Borland if he wins his first game. If Niels Zonneveld would win his first game it will be an all Dutch encounter with Derk Telnekes in round 2, while Ryan de Vreede could face Spanish Jesus Noguera. Lorenzo Pronk could play Eddie Lovely. Gino Vos could play Alan Tabern, while Berry van Peer with a win would face Canadian Jeff Smith. 3 more Dutchmen who are already in round 2: Martijn Kleermaker from Harderwijk plays good old Wayne Jones in the second round, while Maik Kuivenhoven plays either Russian Boris Koltsov or Austrian Rusty-Jake Rodriguez. Finally Raymond van Barneveld will play in his first major since his comeback, and he starts in the last 128 against another man in form: Alan Soutar.
Finally the third round (last 96). Here we are joined by another couple Dutch players. Jelle Klaasen, who made the quarter-finals in this event last year, will start his tournament against Scottish Andy Boulton.
