Danny van Trijp wins Challenge Tour 9

Wim Blokpoel - Yesterday 2 more PDC Winmau Challenge Tours were played in Germany.

Challenge Tour 8 

In round 1 Danny van Trijp beat Kristiaan de Boer 5-2 in an all Dutch clash. Van Trijp then whitewashed Alex Flohr 5-0, and beat Colin Osborne 5-2 to make the last 32. Here he edged out Scottish talent Nathan Girvan 5-4. In the last 16 it was an average of 96,4 for Van Trijp as he whitewashed Alex Long 5-0. Into the quarter-finals where he played Dan Read. Van Trijp averaged 100,5!! But he still only won 5-4 against Read. In the semi-finals, Van Trijp survived matchdarts as he edged out David Pallett 5-4. In the final, Van Trijp lost 0-5 to Stephen Burton but still a very great run.

Patrick Peters started with a 5-1 win over German Alexander Tröbs. He then bewt Danish Michael Seemann 5-2, and Portugese Paulo Ferreira 5-1. In the last 16 Peters played Challenge Tour number one Scott Williams, and surprisingly edged him out 5-4! In the quarter-finals, Peters also lost to Burton 0-5.

In another Dutch first round, Martijn Dragt beat Patrick van den Bogaard 5-2. It was a Dutch second round as well, as Dragt then beat Dennie Olde Kalter 5-0. In the last 64, Dragt beat Darren Johnson 5-3 but in the last 32 he lost 1-5 to Thomas Lovely. Jeroen Mioch started with a 5-2 win over German Simeon Heinz, and then edged out Toni Alcinas 5-4. In the last 32 Mioch lost to the eventual winner Burton, 2-5. Jurjen van der Velde also beat a German 5-2 in the last 128: Sebastian Keine. He then beat Belgian Roberto Vandaele, but also lost in the last 32, 1-5 to Lee Evans.

Arjan Konterman whitewashed German Kevin Grebe 5-0, and then beat fellow Dutchman Roy van de Griendt 5-2. In the last 32 Konterman lost 4-5 to Pete Burgoyne. Sven van Dun beat Danish Niels-Joergen Hansen 5-3 and then had a 5-4 win over Ciaran Teehan. Van Dun also lost in the last 32, 2-5 to former World Championship semi-finalist Jamie Lewis.

Other Dutchmen who made the last 64 were: Adrianus Maria van Baast, Roemer Mooijman, Robin Smeets, Owen Roelofs and Carlo van Peer.

Challenge Tour 9

Danny van Trijp started well again. He beat Michael Ladefoged 5-0, and then edged out Kevin Blomme 5-4. In the last 32 Van Trijp beat Pete Burgoyne 5-3, and then he beat David Pallett again, 5-2 this time. In the quarter-finals, Van Trijp averaged 100,6 in a 5-3 win over Matthew Edgar! In the semi’s, Van Trijp beat fellow Dutchman Christian Kist. A second final in a row, and now Van Trijp played German Lukas Wenig. It was Van Trijp who won it 5-2, as he won Challenge Tour 9!!!

Befofe his defeat to Van Trijp, former Lakeside World Champion Christian Kist started with a 5-2 win over German Alexander Tröbs, and then beat Thomas Lovely 5-1. In the last 32 Kist beat Gary Blades 5-3, and then in the last 16 he also beat event 8 winner Stephen Burton, 5-2! In the quarter-finals it was a battle of Dutch World Champions as Kist played Jelle Klaasen! Kist won it 5-2.

Before his defeat, Klaasen had some great wins. He first beat Georgios Nanos 5-2, and then German Patrick Plötz 5-3. In the last 32 he beat Tomas Houdek 5-3 as well. In the last 16 Klaasen played three time World Champion John Part, who he beat 5-3. Roy van de Griendt started with a 5-0 whitewash over German Sebastian Schnickmann. He then edged out Robert Owen 5-4, and in the last 32 Van de Griendt averaged 98,9 in a 5-3 win over Graham Usher! In the last 16 Van de Griendt beat Josh Payne 5-2, but in the quarter-finals he lost 3-5 to Kenny Neyens. Jeremy van der Winkel beat fellow Dutchman Patrick van den Bogaard 5-2, and then beat German Simeon Heinz 5-3. Another 5-3 win for Van der Winkel then against Michal Smejda, and in the last 32 he edged out Ronny Huybrechts 5-4! In the last 16 Van der Winkel whitewashed Steffen Siepmann 5-0, to make a third quarter-final in only two days! He did lose in that round again, 2-5 to Wenig.

Patrick Maat started with a 5-0 win over German Frank Peters, and then surprisingly beat fellow Dutchman Wesley Plaisier 5-3. In the last 64 Maat edged out Joshua Burksfield 5-4 but in the last 32 he lost 3-5 to Pallett. Kristiaan de Boer beat fellow Dutchman Patrick Peters 5-3 in round 1, and then edged out Belgian Nick Paenen 5-4. In the last 64 he beat Paulo Ferreira 5-2. In the last 32 De Boer lost 2-5 to Siepmann.

Other Dutch players who lost in the last 64 were Davy Proosten, Arjan Konterman, Maikel Verberk, Jan de Weerdt and Chris Landman.
