Christian Kist reaches final and is through to final stage
Wim Blokpoel - Today was the day with the least good results for Dutch Darts at 2021 Q-School as for the first time there were no Dutch day winners. However given the fact 3 points will be enough, there were some Dutch players who got those 3 points on the order of merit today, and are through. One Dutchman reached his final today, and by that earned 3 more points, above the point he earned yesterday: former BDO World Champion Christian Kist. Kist started the day with beating 2 German players: Kevin Costatini and Danny Tessmann with 6-3 and 6-4. In the last 32 Kist got another 6-4 win against Greece’s Veniamin Symeonidis. The last 16 saw Kist’s best performance as he averaged 93.1 in a 6-2 victory against Belgian Laurent Toussaint. In the final Kist lost 4-6 to Florian Hempel, but 3 points are enough for final stage.
Apart from Kist’s final run, 4 more Dutchman got into the last 16. Former tourcard holder Jimmy Hendriks got on 4 points as well because of thay which puts him in final stage, so does Maikel Venema who surprised yesterday with a last 16 run and does exactly the same today! Former World Championship participant Gino Vos qualifies on final stage by getting 3 points as well, he reached the last 16 after beating the likes of Danny van Trijp, who himself got on 3 points yesterday along with Arjan Konterman, and Vos also got a win against Stefan Nilles. 4th Dutchman into the last 16 was former Lakeside quarter-finalist Willem Mandigers although that only gives him 2 points, which might still be enough, as 2 points was enough to get through in group A as well. So no Dutch winners today but loads of players on 3 points already
Loads more players? Yes! Because 2 more Dutchman got on 3 points today. Dutch talent Luc Peters got his third point by making the last 32 after whitewashing Austrian Peter Hubinger. Ryan de Vreede also got his third point, he reached the last 32 by beating David Rossi 6-1, and an impressive 6-4 win against former tourcard holder Jerry Hendriks. So along with Jeffrey de Graaf winning yesterday, 8 more Dutch players are already through to final stage on the order of merit, and more are expected tomorrow!
