Bigger format The Masters: De Zwaan joins van Gerwen

Wim Blokpoel - Today the PDC announced that the 2021 PDC Ladbrokes Masters will go on as normal. It will be held from Friday 29th January until Sunday 31st January in Milton Keynes, behind closed doors. World number teo and five time Masters champion Michael van Gerwen will of course be there. But the PDC also announced that the format will be expanded: instead of the usual 16 players, this year the top 24 players of the PDC will play. This means that former World Matchplay semi-finalist Jeffrey de Zwaan will also be there! 

Jeffrey will make his Masters debut in the last 24 against two time major champion Daryl Gurney. If he wins, Jeffrey will play Dave Chisnall in the last 16. Michael van Gerwen is the number 2 seed, so is already in thr last 16. There he will play either Grand Slam of Darts champion Jose de Sousa or Jonny Clayton, who beat Van Gerwen in the last 16 of the Masters last year.
