5 Dutchmen qualified for both ET 2 and 3
Wim Blokpoel - Yesterday two Eurotour qualifiers were played.
Michael van Gerwen and Dirk van Duijvenbode are already qualified for Eurotour 2 and 3 as seeds, but yesterday a lot of other Dutchmen tried to qualify for it. In the qualifier for the Eurotour in Hildesheim was a lot of Dutch success. Luc Peters caused an enormous upset as he whitewashed World Number 4 James Wade 6-0 with an average of 97!! He then beat fellow Dutchman Berry van Peer, to secure his Eurotour debut. Machine Gun Jermaine Wattimena beat American Danny Baggish 6-4, and in his final he had a very easy 6-1 win over Scottish William Borland.
Martijn Kleermaker just edged out Jason Heaver 6-5, and then beat Greece’s John Michael (Just like at the Worlds), with 6-4 to qualify for Hildesheim. Castricum’s Jimmy Hendriks easily beat Jeff Smith 6-2, and Luke Woodhouse with the same scoreline to make his return at the European Tour. Dutch Destoryer Vincent van der Voort averaged 99 in a 6-2 win against Jon Worsley. He then beat Josh Rock 6-3 to make it 5 Dutch qualifiers in Hildesheim!
In the qualifier for Eurotour 3 in München, Berry van Peer beat Andrew Gilding 6-3, and then Borland with the same scoreline as BVP finally will make his Eurotour debut in the easter weekend! Jermaine Wattimena managed to come back from 3-5 down to beat Rowby-John Rodriguez 6-5. Wattimena then saw himself go 4-5 down against Daryl Gurney but once again managed to win 6-5 as Wattimena qualified for both eurotour 2 and 3 today! A very good start of the year for him after a disappointing 2021. Five time world champ Raymond van Barneveld also had a good day. He averaged 101 in a 6-2 win over Uitgeest’s Niels Zonneveld, and then beat Jeff Smith 6-3 to qualify for his first Eurotour since coming out of retirement!
Van der Voort beat John Brown 6-4, and then edged out Peters 6-5 to secure himself for ET3 as he will now play at the first 3 Eurotours of the year! Jeffrey de Zwaan beat both Gordon Mathers and Jack Main 6-2, but had to win another game to qualify. But he did so by demolishing William O’Connor 6-1!
